The Story Behind Anaheim Appliance Repair

My name is Andrew Heimer, and I started Anaheim Appliance Repair in 2011 — not because I had some grand business plan, but because I was tired of watching people get ripped off.

Before I went out on my own, I spent eight years working for one of the big national appliance repair chains. You know the type — the ones with the 1-800 number and the vans you see everywhere. I learned a lot about fixing appliances in those years. What I also learned was how broken the service model was. Techs were pushed to upsell parts people didn’t need. Appointments were scheduled in four-hour windows because nobody respected the customer’s time. And if you called back with the same problem a week later? Good luck getting the same technician.

I remember the moment I decided I was done. A woman in Fullerton — she must have been in her seventies — had a refrigerator that needed a $40 thermostat. My dispatcher told me to recommend a full sealed-system repair. That would have been over $900. I replaced the thermostat, and the fridge ran perfectly. I put in my two weeks the next Monday.

Starting from Scratch

In March 2011, I bought a used Chevy Express van, loaded it with tools, and started knocking on doors. Not literally — but close. I ran a small ad in the Anaheim Bulletin, put up a basic website, and told everyone I knew that I was open for business. My first month, I did eleven jobs. My second month, I did nineteen. By the end of that first year, I’d completed over 300 repairs and hadn’t had a single callback.

The work spoke for itself. Customers started leaving reviews. Neighbors told neighbors. Realtors started calling when their clients’ home inspections turned up appliance issues. Property managers put me on speed dial.

Growing the Team

By 2014, I couldn’t keep up on my own. I hired my first technician, Marco Salinas, who’d been working on commercial kitchen equipment for six years. Marco brought a level of precision that raised the bar for all of us — he’s still with us today as our lead tech, and he specializes in high-end refrigeration units, especially Sub-Zero and built-in models.

From there, the team grew carefully. I’ve never been interested in hiring fast — I’d rather turn down work than send someone to your home who isn’t ready.

The Team Today

We’re now a crew of eight, and every one of them is someone I’d trust in my own kitchen:

  • Marco Salinas — Lead Technician, 12 years experience. Specializes in Sub-Zero, Thermador, and commercial-grade refrigeration. EPA Section 608 certified.

  • David Kwon — Senior Technician, 9 years experience. Our go-to for washer and dryer diagnostics. Factory-trained on LG and Samsung laundry systems.

  • Luis Aguilar — Technician, 7 years experience. Dishwasher and oven specialist. Previously worked for a Miele authorized service center — he knows those machines inside and out.

  • Rachel Whitfield — Technician, 5 years experience. One of the sharpest diagnostic minds on the team. Handles complex electrical issues across all appliance types.

  • Tony Marchetti — Technician, 6 years experience. Focuses on gas appliances — ranges, ovens, dryers. Licensed for gas line work in California.

  • Chris Nakamura — Technician, 4 years experience. Specializes in newer smart appliances and electronic control boards. If your fridge has WiFi, Chris is your guy.

  • Jasmine Torres — Technician, 3 years experience. Trained directly under Marco. Handles residential refrigerators and freezers across all major brands.

  • Sandra Peña — Office Manager & Dispatcher. Sandra is the voice you hear when you call. She’s been keeping our schedule running smoothly since 2016 and knows every ZIP code in Orange County.

By the Numbers

  • 12,400+ repairs completed since 2011
  • 4.9-star average rating across Google, Yelp, and Angi
  • 14+ years serving Anaheim and Orange County
  • Same-day service available Monday through Saturday
  • 90-day warranty on all parts and labor

What We Believe

We charge an $89 diagnostic fee. If you approve the repair, that fee gets rolled into the cost — so the diagnosis is essentially free. We quote flat-rate pricing before we start any work, and we don’t begin until you say yes. No surprises. No pressure.

I still go out on calls myself. Not every day — Sandra would kill me if I messed up her schedule — but enough to stay sharp and stay connected to the work that got me here.

If your appliance is acting up, give us a call at (714) 243-8415. We’ll take care of it.
